Initial Consultation

Initial consultations are completed in person, on the phone or via email and take up to an hour. Consultations are not billed.

Subsequent research fees

Research rates are $50.00 per hour, with a five hour minimum. The fee includes investigation into your research question and a formal written report. The report includes all information found relating to your question, as well as source information, images and future research suggestions.

Payment

Payment is due once a contracted agreement has been reached and can be made via PayPal.

I am an expert at online research and use a wide variety of little-known sources. I am also willing to visit libraries, courthouses, archives, and genealogical societies throughout central Illinois & Indiana.

I have been doing genealogy personally for twenty five years, and professionally as a librarian for fifteen years. While earning my Masters in Library Science, I specialized in local history and genealogy research. I have attended a variety of local, state, and national conferences and trainings,  and have extensive knowledge of an array of record types - both on-site and online.  I also hold a certificate Genealogical Research from Boston University and hope to submit my portfolio to the Board for Certification of Genealogists by the end of the year (2024).

Genealogy Services - I offer a wide variety of genealogical services. From researching one individual, delving into the local history to help put your ancestor's life in context, or helping break down brick walls, I can help you with your family history journey.  

I am available to visit libraries, courthouses, archives, and genealogical societies throughout central Illinois & Indiana. I may be able to visit repositories in a wider area, please ask!

Internet Research -   I am an expert at online research and use a wide variety of lesser-known sources that can help you find what you are searching for.
